A summer internship is a pivotal moment for a college student. For many, it is their first experience in a corporate environment, and at JLL Mid-Atlantic, we take seriously our responsibility to provide our interns with the best possible experience. This summer, 28 interns (chosen from an applicant pool of over 6,000) had the opportunity to roll up their sleeves and get to know our business and our people. Throughout the summer, our interns worked within each of our business units, and worked as groups on value-add presentations. A summer internship at JLL is an invaluable experience, one that helps students better understand our industry and how they could potentially start a career with us.
Hear first-hand from two of our summer interns as they reflect on their experience:
“The opportunity to be an intern for JLL during their summer internship in Washington D.C has been an absolute pleasure. Not only is everyone incredibly approachable and willing to help out with any questions I asked throughout my time here, but also people had a genuine interest in my experience and were consistently checking in with me to see how everything was going. One of the best things about the internship was the ability to have a look into the different niches of the commercial real estate business. For example, I was a Corporate Solutions intern, but through the “Know your Business” talks, I had the ability to learn about the different departments such as Agency Leasing, Capital Markets, Industrial, Tenant Representation and Retail. I learned about each and every department that was represented in the D.C office, and through this incredible opportunity, I have been able to narrow down what I want to do after this internship. The JLL summer internship provided me with this experience and I’m incredibly thankful for that.”

“My internship experience at JLL exponentially exceeded my expectations. You hear horror stories all the time about being an intern in a fortune 500 company but for me, those are still horror stories, not realities. Our supervisors put together such an amazing internship program full of events and activities with the perfect mix of learning, fun, and service. I came into this internship with little to no knowledge about commercial real estate or JLL, very few connections, and no real understanding of where I want my career path to take me. Nine weeks later I am walking away from this with a much greater understanding of commercial real estate and each aspect of the business within JLL thanks to the ‘Know the Business’ series. In addition to that, the connections I have made within JLL are ones that I hope will last a very long time. From the very first day, the interns and I were all welcomed into JLL with open arms and not treated like interns, but like employees of the company. It’s evident that everyone in this company is willing and eager to help the interns out. I am walking away from this internship with an understanding that commercial real estate is where I want and need to be after I graduate from Notre Dame in May. I have gained such a strong interest in commercial real estate and look forward to a career in this industry. JLL has given me such an amazing opportunity and I am so thankful for the people I have met, the knowledge I have gained, and the experience of this internship. I am walking away from these last nine weeks sad that it’s over, but very excited for what my future has in store.”
